NetClarity (News - Alert), a provider of integrated security solutions to the mid-market, has recently unveiled its NACsmart technology to be deployed on its next-generation NACwall appliances.
NACsmart provides safer non-SNMP and non-802.1x command and control interfaces to all existing major managed switches, completely eliminating the need for customers to upgrade to the high-risk and hackable 802.1x protocol.
The integration has already been successfully completed for vendors including Cisco, Extreme Networks, Juniper, 3Com (News - Alert), HP and many others, representing nearly 95 percent of the switches deployed worldwide.
The robust deployment technology is now available for the entire family of NACwall appliances, including the Nano-25, which the company claims to be the world’s smallest internal security appliance currently.
“Our agentless Next Generation Network Access Control (NAC) solution has just been improved by our new NACsmart technology for nearly instant and deep integration with leading switch vendors,” said Gary S. Miliefsky, founder and CTO, NetClarity, in a statement.
“This provides instant network access control functionality without the need to use risky protocols like SNMP v2.0c or 802.1x for solving the BYOD and MDM dilemmas facing most organizations today,” Miliefsky added.
NACsmart allows major managed switches to provide fast and easy wizard-based setup for managed switch integration, automatic detection and quarantine of rogue devices, dynamic VLAN reconfiguration in real-time, rogue and MAC-spoofer detection, switch-based port blocking, and real-time alerting on switch port and VLAN block and quarantine events.
“By using the built-in NACsmart functionality with our managed Cisco (News - Alert) catalyst switches, we don’t need to upgrade any network infrastructure to secure ourselves from the inside-out and deal with the risks inherent in mobile computing,” Phil Maio, VP of Security for Avidia Bank concluded.
