Appliance Deployment Expert NEI to Participate in Automation and Power World, Showcasing its 380V DC Server

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

As the appliance deployment space continues to heat up like the temperature outside, NEI (News - Alert) is continuing to lead the pack in powering cutting edge application platforms, deployment solutions and support services for software technology developers and OEMs located all over the world. Today, the company revealed it is getting its feet wet in conjunction with ABB and IO, where it is sure to make a splash at Automation & Power World, taking place from April 23-26, in Houston, Texas.

NEI’s robust solutions will be comprised within the IO.Anywhere Data Module, a data center system powered by ABB’s technology that raises the bar on scalability, while simultaneously driving reliability and improving energy efficiency.

As data centers are continuing to have to transition rapidly to fully support a much higher level of demand from customers than ever before, companies are continuously on the hunt for solutions that can help reduce costs. A revolutionary and potentially game changing idea is to use direct currents (DC) power within the data center, which dramatically increases safety when compared to outdated AC technology.

“There is no question that data center managers are taking 380V DC more seriously,” said Rudy Kraus, CEO of Validus DC Systems, in a statement. “For 380V DC to become the mainstream power standard in data centers, equipment manufacturers must step up and provide the necessary compute and storage appliances to support high-voltage DC power in data centers. NEI has proven that it is committed to this, and we commend the company for it.”

ABB and IO have remained at the forefront of the concept of utilizing 380V DC power in the data center, and recently joined hands to create a data center module that leverages DC power. That was when NEI, a company known for its DC server technology offering, put its engineering expertise and global manufacturing to use in order to bring off-the-shelf, COTS-based DC servers to the data center market.

“IO is pleased to be able to offer our customers a choice inside the data center,” Andreas Zoll, vice president of engineering, IO added. “Whether AC or DC power delivery, IO can address every customer requirement. We welcome NEI’s efforts to expand the availability of 380V DC systems to data center managers worldwide.”
