Appliance Deployment: Austin Hipes is Chosen by NEI for Vice President of Technology

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

NEI (News - Alert), a provider of appliance deployment platforms and support services for software technology developers and OEMs around the world, has promoted Austin Hipes to vice president, technology. NEI has a large amount of expertise, and in conjunction with solution design, system integration, application management, global logistics, support, and maintenance services, NEI is creating appliance deployment solutions in order to give customers multiple advantages. In this new position, Hipes will be responsible for the continuing development of an approach that will use a broad range of both hardware and software products in order to satisfy OEM needs. Hipes will also be in charge of improving and expanding the company’s virtualization, cloud computing, and physical compute technologies. In addition, he will work to create multiple application deployment models that will meet customer requirements.

“With more than a decade of experience in hardware and software deployment solutions, Austin Hipes has proven a highly innovative and invaluable member of the NEI strategic team,” said Greg Shortell, CEO of NEI. “He continues to deliver at the technical and management levels for our FAEs, our partners, and our customers, and NEI is very pleased to appoint him as vice president, technology.”

Before moving into his new position as vice president, Hipes was formerly director of technology at NEI, where he managed field applications engineers (FAEs) by assisting with sales design activities and working with customers to teach them about hardware and other deployment trends. Working with NEI since 2003, Hipes has focused heavily on creating systems for network equipment providers that require crucial carrier-grade solutions, and in his new position will continue to manage skills training for FAEs and act as technical interface for NEI’s technology partners, according to a press release.
