MetaSwitch Adding to its Overall Portfolio and Customer Base

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

After extending its footprint in the carrier IP communications space by adding more than 20 new regional operators to its customer base, MetaSwitch has jumped past the 200 mark of incumbent service providers using its services.

According to the IP communications solutions player, carriers are deploying MetaSwitch (News - Alert) solutions in an effort to migrate legacy voice infrastructures in a more cost-effective manner. The IP-enabled networks also provide next-generation subscriber services, a process that MetaSwitch is banking to accelerate as Broadband Stimulus funds drive the deployment of packet networks.

While the milestone is seemingly impressive in itself – the demand for state-of-the-art voice over IP services has never been greater in the United States –  the company is also making a big push in the  Latin America and the Caribbean markets.

In recent years, MetaSwitch has strengthened its market position by building a roster of smaller carriers such as CLECs, RLECs, IOCs – markets often neglected by big carriers.

And that is translating to a growing following in other regional nations.

The carrier IP communications solutions company recently began providing its carrier VoIP solution as a replacement to existing legacy TDM switching infrastructure used by the Netherlands Antilles’ primary telecommunications service provider.

In addition, the company struck a deal with Argentina-based strategic alliance company Technology Bureau to create d a joint sales strategy during their seminar program, titled “VoIP - Carrier Class, Next Generation Converged Solutions," in Buenos Aires.

Earlier this year, MetaSwitch (News - Alert) hosted its record-setting sixth annual MetaSwitch Forum 2009 in Las Vegas -  an event created  for both customers and partners.

The carrier IP communications solutions company announced a slew of new features and products for its product line-up in an effort to extend its commitment to providing innovative telecommunications services to its customers.

Among all the 100 enhancements MetaSwitch unveiled, as part of its Version 7.0 release, the offerings are designed to enable service providers to quickly and effectively deploy new and advanced services and to generate additional revenue as well as improve communications for their subscribers.

"MetaSwitch has always maintained a high level of commitment to quality engineering standards in order to continually deliver products and services that improve network reliability and streamline network management, as well as to provide carriers with powerful new applications that are easy to sell and deliver to subscribers," said John Lazar (News - Alert), CEO for MetaSwitch.
