Advanced Carrier Services: For the First Time Ever, Thrutu Enables iPhone and Android Users to Share Information

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Today, Thrutu (News - Alert) launched its iPhone release, powering countless new sharing functionalities that before now were inaccessible in mobile devices. The Thrutu mobile app has already been downloaded by 250,000 Android (News - Alert) users worldwide, and allows people to easily share information without any negative effects to a phone call.

Thrutu, not only lets iPhone (News - Alert) users multitask while on calls, but also lets them easily engage with Android users. This idea was once inconceivable, but not now. Thrutu has completely changed the definition of a typical phone call, through letting users instantly share multiple types of content and media like contact information and photos, all while a conversation is still taking place.

To activate Thrutu, iPhone users just have to open the app and choose a contact to call. Thrutu can also be started automatically when an incoming call comes through and another Thrutu user is identified.

“Android users have responded very enthusiastically to Thrutu – and their number one request has been for an iOS version so they can use Thrutu with their iPhone-owning friends and family,” said Liz Rice, VP, Thrutu, in a press release. “This product release creates a whole new level of enriched communications between iPhone and Android that has not previously been possible.”

Some capabilities that the app can successfully assist users in completing include: sharing your location  and seeing where the caller on the other end is located live on a map; taking a photo or sending one from your gallery; sending contact details that will automatically appear within the other caller's address book and making the other caller’s phone vibrate right from your phone.

In the near future, additional Thrutu buttons will be built on Thrutu’s developer APIs, enabling even more ways to have fun and share at the same time.

Initially launched for Android back in March, Thrutu has already been adopted all over the world.

Alfredo Guilbert, VP West Coast & Asia at AlwaysOn, says this enormous amount of downloads proves that Thrutu increases the user experience within mobile phones. "When naming Thrutu 'One to Watch' at this year's AlwaysOn OnMobile (News - Alert) Top 100 event, we knew they would have exciting things in store this year. This iPhone launch enables an even larger and more connected population to turn their ordinary phone calls into interactive and rich exchanges, and we think it will be hugely successful," Guilbert commented.

Thrutu is currently available in the App Store for iPhone 3GS and above and on the Android 2.1 platform or higher.
