Metaswitch's 2010 Year in Advanced Carrier Services

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Web Editor

Metaswitch Networks, an advanced carrier services provider of technologies and solutions that power the migration of communications networks to open, next-generation architecture, has a lot to be proud of looking back on its accomplishments in 2010.

To start off the year, Celtro chose Metaswitch’s MPLS and IP routing network protocol software products for Celtro’s DynaMate product family. Metaswitch’s IP/MPLS network protocol software enable Celtro’s solutions to better support advanced IP/MPLS network capabilities, while offering smooth migration for mobile backhaul networks from ATM to IP/MPLS.

The following month, in attempts to take its telecommunications business to the next level, Metaswitch Networks appointed successful industry executive Kevin DeNuccio as CEO, and the promoted current CEO John Lazar (News - Alert) to chairman.

In April, Metaswitch delivered “the first” portable protocol solution for signaling and routing in G.709 Optical Transport Networks. OTN provides a transparent, hierarchical network that supports the transport of both packet and optical traffic, greatly increasing network efficiencies.

In October, the company wrapped up its 7th Annual Metaswitch Forum where a record attendance of more than 800 service provider customers, partners and guests spent three jam-packed days exploring everything from innovative voice application development, hosted business services and cloud computing, to a live video link.

More recently, 6WIND and Metaswitch Networks announced the integration of their best-in-class networking products to deliver their customers with a new software solution. Together, 6WIND’s 6WINDGate packet processing software and Metaswitch’s MPLS, GMPLS, MPLS-TP and IP Routing control plane software will combine to offer integrated software for high performance networks.

2010 proved to be a successful year for Metaswitch. Stay tuned to the company’s Advanced Carrier Services channel exclusively on TMCnet to see what’s in store for Metaswitch in 2011.
