The company in a recent release informed that TruePosition LMU-Universal is a software-defined receiver, which is installed at wireless cell towers and used to locate people who dial emergency numbers from their mobile phone.

 

The company informed the TruePosition LMU-Universal forms the backbone of the TruePosition Uplink Time Difference of Arrival (U-TDOA) Location Platform.

Across the USA, TruePosition U-TDOA is being used by thousands of people in distress. It follows a simple mechanism: TruePosition U-TDOA can help locate people who dial 911 from their mobile phone in emergency situations. The location information is delivered to and used by Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The personnel stationed at PSAPs then send the applicable first responders to proper location.

 

It gets even better and more effective with the TruePosition LMU-Universal, which is installed within cell towers to receive signals from the mobile phone that dials an emergency number. The difference in time that it takes the signal to reach multiple towers is used to calculate the phone's location.

 

The most advantageous part of LMU- Universal is: it also works indoors and thus stays one step ahead of GPS system and this makes it perfect for hunting down people got stuck somewhere in the concrete jungles of densely populated cities crammed with high-rises. Because of the sensitiveness of TruePosition LMU-Universal, it gives excellent performance in dense urban environments, where effectiveness of GPS is limited.

As a result, there is no need to purchase or install additional hardware, which ultimately provides a low total cost of ownership.
