911 Enable's E911 Solutions Interoperable with Alcatel-Lucent IP Telephony Systems

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

Whether they’re at home, on campus, or on the road when an emergency situation occurs, users expect E911 support to be accurate and reliable. However, organizations consisting of mobile users and distributed IP networks face a challenge of ensuring that the necessary location information is transmitted to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).

911 Enable (News - Alert) not only provides IP-based solutions that meet the needs of the most demanding deployments, but it offers the first-ever and only comprehensive E911 solutions for enterprise-wide IP telephony. The 911 services company has now introduced its Alcatel-Lucent-certified E911 solution that can help organizations simply their management, reduce infrastructure costs, and ultimately meet local and state E911 legislation.

As a member of the Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) Application Partner Program, 911 Enable now brings to market the only E911 platform for Alcatel-Lucent IP phone systems. Now interoperable with OmniPCX, this end-to-end E911 solution can be seamlessly and cost-effectively implemented in organizations of all sizes.

This all-new 911 Enable solution consists of two key elements: the Emergency Routing Service, which delivers 911 calls and location data to PSAPS across the U.S. and Canada; and the Emergency Gateway (News - Alert), an on-site application that automates and simplifies the management of E911.

The Emergency Routing Service, which aims to help organizations to meet state and local E911 standards, consists of granular location provisioning; support for organizations that require connectivity to multiple PSAPs; support for remote users; cost avoidance; real-time master street address guide validation; and superior network reliability for always-there E911 call routing.

Available as a hardware appliance for large enterprises or as a virtual appliance for small- to medium-sized organizations, the Emergency Gateway includes automatic IP phone discovery, security desk routing and notification; reporting and monitoring tools; support for one number reach and remote extension features, as well as additional features like 911 misdial protection, multiple dial plans and active test mode.

Both the Emergency Routing Service and the Emergency Gateway can be combined or used separately for functionality in any workplace scenario. Thus, organizations can customize the E911 solution that best fits their needs.
