Green Technology Featured In New Lenovo ThinkPad Mobile Work Station

International technology company Lenovo, introduced today its latest notebook PC, the ThinkPad T61.
 
The notebook, a 15.4-inch widescreen mobile workstation notebook, not only features new enhancements that drive innovation and efficiency, but is also the latest offering to include the company's efforts to reduce global carbon footprints through energy efficient products.

 
The new notebook offers a cooler, quieter and more energy efficient solution over other earlier models and features Lenovo's new cooling system, allowing the notebook to run three decibels quieter than previous models and up to 10 percent cooler even under the most intensive tasks.
 
Other features of the notebook outlined in a press release include, a Top Cover Roll Cage for extreme durability, layers security solutions with full disk encryption, Linux certification and Ultra-Wideband technology and is equipped with the latest Intel (News - Alert) processors for optimum performance.
 
 
Alex Burns, chief operating officer, AT&T (News - Alert) Williams commented, "Technology is driving racing today in a new way. AT&T Williams relies on Lenovo ThinkPad mobile workstations everyday to power our team, whether it's in the garage or on the track, helping in everything from systems checks before starting the car to monitoring fuel inputs. For us, a powerful and portable machine with fast wireless, incredible processing speed and high-end graphics makes an important contribution to beating the competition. Lenovo's mobile workstations help us do just that."
 
With Lenovo's energy efficient products, customers receive offerings that meet new Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star 4.0 standards.
 
Energy efficient notebooks from Lenovo are set to achieve up to a 70 percent improvement in efficiency over previous generation notebooks and "with power management features providing customer's maximum energy savings up to 47 percent greater than before," a news release noted.
 
The news release also noted that the energy efficient notebooks are, "rated silver by the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool that institutions use to evaluate, compare and select PC products based on their environmental attributes."
 
The company is also offering customers of previous ThinkPad notebooks, (with Intel Centrino Pro or Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology) the ability to update their systems to meet the Energy Star 4.0 standard via downloadable updates on their website.
 
 
The company has also announced plans to offer Energy Star 4.0 desktops over the next few weeks that will offer improved energy efficiency of up to 52 percent. This along with less heat emissions and lower energy costs will help to further extend PC life as well as decreases system maintenance needs.
