MetaSwitch Unveils Slew of Product Enhancements at MetaSwitch Forum 2009

While many companies have been making announcements from this week's MetaSwitch (News - Alert) Forum 2009 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the event's host appears to be making the most of its platform.

 
The carrier IP communications solutions company announced a virtual jackpot of new features and products for its product line-up in an effort to extend its commitment to providing innovative telecommunications services to its customers.  
 
Among all the 100 enhancements MetaSwitch unveiled, as part of its Version 7.0 release, the offerings are designed to enable service providers to quickly and effectively deploy new and advanced services and to generate additional revenue as well as improve communications for their subscribers.

"MetaSwitch has always maintained a high level of commitment to quality engineering standards in order to continually deliver products and services that improve network reliability and streamline network management, as well as to provide carriers with powerful new applications that are easy to sell and deliver to subscribers," said John Lazar, CEO for MetaSwitch.
 
As TMCnet reported, the company announced that Lazar, former president and chief operating officer of MetaSwitch’s Carrier Division, will take on the role of  chief executive officer.
 
The Alameda, California-based MetaSwitch is an industry-leading vendor of switching and applications solutions for both packet and circuit-switched networks. Its MetaSphere service delivery platform and applications suite enables a broad set of hosted IP communications services, while its core session control and media/signaling gateway products support a full range of Class 4/5 softswitch capabilities.
 
The enhancements to MetaSwitch Version 7.0 release include: MetaSphere Easy Attendant for small business that offers an automated receptionist with exceptional ease of use and administration. It also integrated with MetaSwitch's CommPortal Web user interface. In addition, Easy Attendant allows callers to listen to recorded messages and transfer to specific departments or individuals, including the ability to dial by extension and transfer directly to a voicemail account to leave a message.
 
The company’s CommPortal Phone Applications is a hosted IP PBX features and enhanced applications are now available on Aastra's (News - Alert) SIP telephones, enabling carriers to offer an integrated suite of applications directly to the screens of their customers' IP phones. The main thrust behind the new XML applications is to allow subscribers to access advanced functions quickly and easily, without having to open a web browser or even turn on their PC. 
 
Another key enhancement is the CommPortal Widgets which allow carriers to embed valuable communication features directly into the subscriber's homepage or desktop, seamlessly integrating and enhancing the subscriber experience.
 
Other features include Dashboard. CommPortal Widgets that provide message lists, recent call lists, click-to dial, and a quick- launch button; Enhanced Emergency Standalone with capabilities within  MetaSwitch's MG Series media gateways supports highly resilient distributed network architectures by allowing a level of subscriber service to be maintained even after catastrophic events such as high-level network failure or the destruction of a central office.
 
Lastly, the company announced its MetaView CSR (News - Alert) provides carriers' customer service representatives (CSRs) with a simple, Web-based interface to subscriber records and diagnostics without requiring the installation of any software on their PCs.
