Social Engineering Defense Strategies at Enterprise Cybersecurity Expo 2025

By Greg Tavarez January 24, 2025

It starts with a single click. A seemingly harmless email with a subject line like “Urgent: Invoice Attached” or a friendly message that says, “Hey, check this out!” The link is clicked, the attachment opened, and just like that, an organization’s security is compromised.

Phishing and social engineering attacks have evolved from crude attempts to sophisticated operations. They leverage psychology and human behavior to bypass even the most advanced technological defenses.

The truth is, technology alone cannot outsmart these attacks. The weakest link in cybersecurity has always been, and remains, he human element. Attackers rely on curiosity, fear or urgency to exploit trust. From fake CEO emails requesting wire transfers to text messages pretending to be delivery updates, these schemes prey on human emotions, making them alarmingly effective.

What’s worse, the methods are becoming more refined. Personalized phishing, deepfake voice calls and social media manipulation now allow attackers to craft highly targeted, believable scenarios. No firewall or software patch can teach an employee to pause and question whether the email they’re about to respond to is genuine, or part of a scam.

So how do organizations fight back? It’s not about eliminating human error; it’s about building a resilient culture where security becomes second nature. That’s where “The Human Element: Building a Security Culture to Combat Phishing and Social Engineering Threats” comes in.

This must-attend panel session, happening at Enterprise Cybersecurity Expo 2025 from 12:00-12:45 PM on Wednesday, February 12, will dig into the strategies and solutions organizations need to empower their people as the first line of defense.

The panel session will feature Jonathon Cox (News - Alert), VP of Information Security at C3 Complete; Ken Fanger, President, at On Technology Partners; and Matt Lindley, CISO, NINJIO. The session will offer practical insights into creating a security-conscious workforce. Attendees will learn how to shift the mindset from “compliance” to true security awareness, leverage training techniques that stick and build a culture where vigilance is everyone’s responsibility.

Register and attend Enterprise Cybersecurity Expo 2025 on February 11-13 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and ensure your organization is prepared to combat today’s most sophisticated phishing and social engineering threats.
