Zoom and Mitel Partner to Offer Advanced Hybrid Cloud Communications Solution

By Stefania Viscusi October 03, 2024

Zoom Video Communications and Mitel (News - Alert) announced a partnership to deliver a hybrid cloud communication solution for enterprises. The collaboration will combine Zoom’s collaboration tools, including Zoom Workplace and Zoom AI Companion, with Mitel’s communications platform to offer a deeply integrated and secure communication experience.

As today’s modern workplace continues to evolve, and with 82 percent of leaders planning to implement more flexible working models over the next two years, the need for adaptable, hybrid communication systems is also quickly growing. This partnership responds to that demand by bringing together Zoom’s collaboration features with Mitel’s hybrid UC platform so businesses have a "best-of-both-worlds" solution.

“Flexibility and choice are at the heart of every Mitel solution and partnering with Zoom strengthens our ability to deliver on that promise for customers around the world,” said Tarun Loomba, president and CEO of Mitel. “Zoom has a deep understanding of the enterprise market and the flexibility required to support the complex, nuanced needs of today’s distributed workforce. As hybrid communications emerge as the future of business, we see this partnership as a catalyst for driving innovation and growth, together with the Zoom team.”

Thanks to the partnership, organizations can now maintain critical control over their communication systems while also benefiting from the flexibility and productivity enhancements that modern collaboration tools bring.

Specifically, the solution leverages Mitel’s Common Communication Framework to deliver a seamless, feature-rich experience for users. It will integrate unified communications, mobile apps, and advanced business processes without the need for additional add-ons or plug-ins. Key features include bi-directional presence, call-to-video escalation, centralized user provisioning, and access to Zoom Phone, all with embedded support for Mitel’s PBX (News - Alert) systems, whether on-premises or cloud-based.

Mitel’s global base of over 70 million users will also now have the opportunity to enhance their collaboration experiences by accessing Zoom’s AI-powered tools, such as Zoom AI Companion, Meetings, and Team Chat, all while leveraging their existing Mitel infrastructure.

Set to be available in early 2025, the solution offers a chance to embrace industry-leading collaboration capabilities at their own pace and also opens doors for Mitel and Zoom sales teams to cross-sell solutions.
