Future of CX Speaker Cisco, Microsoft and Samsung Partner on Immersive Hybrid Meeting Solutions

By Greg Tavarez February 09, 2024

There’s only a few days left before ITEXPO 2024. Part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW, taking place February 13-15 in Fort Lauderdale, ITEXPO combines educational conference programming with a robust exhibit hall, networking events and other activities, bringing together buyers and providers of business technology products and services that drive business success.

Attendees will have a chance to hear from the likes of Webex by Cisco (News - Alert) during a keynote presentation that features Aruna Ravichandran, SVP and Chief Marketing and Customer Officer, Webex by Cisco. She will talk about how AI is reimagining work. There is also a chance to hear from Alex Lopez, Engineering Leader for Collaboration, Cisco; and Brian Heikes, Director of Product Management, Webex Connect, Cisco, at Future of CX Expo.

Speaking of Cisco, the company announced a partnership with Microsoft and Samsung aimed at enhancing hybrid meeting experiences. The integrated video solutions combine Cisco's Room Series devices with Microsoft Teams Rooms and Samsung (News - Alert)'s Smart Signage displays, featuring the inclusive "Front Row" content layout.

"In today's era of hybrid work, it is essential that workspaces are reimagined to enable great collaboration,” said Jeetu Patel, EVP and General Manager, Security and Collaboration, Cisco. “This means outfitting conference rooms with intelligent video systems designed to bring immersive collaboration experiences to all participants, regardless of their location.”

To get a better idea of what Patel means, remember this. Nearly all modern meetings include a remote participant, yet most physical meeting spaces lack the technology to effectively support these hybrid interactions. This presents a challenge for companies attracting employees back to offices, who now expect seamless and user-friendly meeting technology with superior audio and video quality.

IT teams, tasked with meeting these demands, require standardized solutions for streamlined deployment and efficient management across larger scales.

This partnership addresses this need. The integrated solution leverages Cisco's RoomOS appliances, Samsung's high-resolution displays (including the newly unveiled 105-inch 5K model), and the Front row layout available on all Microsoft (News - Alert) Teams Rooms certified devices.

“Our partnership with Cisco provides users with an accessible work environment, and at the center of that is our 105-inch QPD-5K display that gives users the feeling they are sitting in the same room as their colleagues,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President, Visual Display Business, Samsung.

There are also advanced collaboration features powered by AI available, including enhanced camera, audio and speech intelligence capabilities on Cisco devices integrated with Microsoft Teams Rooms. IT admins also benefit from simplified management and deployment through a fully managed solution in the Microsoft Teams Admin Center, alongside comprehensive insights into meeting room operations provided by Cisco Control Hub.

Additionally, increased scalability is achieved through the tight integration of purpose-built devices, enhanced software experiences, and robust management tools, enabling IT and Facilities to support hybrid work environments at scale. And interoperability allows users to join Microsoft Teams or Webex meetings on the same device without the need for system reboots or reconfiguration.

This combination effectively bridges the physical distance between remote and in-person participants, fostering collaboration while ensuring security and scalability.

"Our vision is to deliver enhanced collaboration experiences that meet the needs of today's hybrid workforce for all organizations and workspaces,” said Ilya Bukshteyn (News - Alert), Vice President, Microsoft Teams Calling and Devices, Microsoft.

The products in these solutions are generally available today. Cisco support for 21:9 displays will be available starting March 2024.

To hear more from Ravichandran, Lopez and Heikes, join them for their sessions at ITEXPO 2024 and Future of CX Expo, taking place February 13-15 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Both events are part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW
