Mitel Introduces 700d Series DECT Handsets

By Stefania Viscusi September 19, 2023

Business communications solutions provider Mitel has brought more innovation to the global DECT (News - Alert) handset market with the introduction of a new 700d series. The new generation of Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) handsets blends simplicity, elegance, and reliability. The handsets are designed to cater to a wide range of user needs, from basic to advanced, and meet the communication requirements of organizations across various industries, including healthcare, hospitality, education, and retail.

The latest 700d series is part of Mitel (News - Alert)'s SIP-DECT multi-cellular mobility solution and includes the: 712dt, 722dt, 732d, and 742d handsets. They feature a 2.4-inch scratch-resistant display with modern graphical elements and help to streamline staff interactions for faster and more efficient communication. They also feature backlit keypads to enhance accessibility in low-light environments.

Another standout feature of the handsets is their ruggedness. With impact-resistance up to 2 meters and IP44/IP65 dust-tight and water-resistant standards adherence, they are suitable for demanding settings.

“DECT solutions provide a proven, reliable, secure on-site communications solution for mobile and front-line workers in key industries including healthcare, retail, hospitality, public administration departments and manufacturing,” said Stephanie Watson, General Manager at MZA. “Mitel has long standing expertise in this market, and with the introduction of the new 700d series, Mitel is adding enhancements to its already market-leading solutions, having continued to lead this market globally securing number one position with a 19% share of all handsets deployed in 2022.”

The devices also use plastics treated with an antimicrobial compound, so they are easier to clean and reduce microbe growth. Another benefit is the long-life lithium batteries to ensure maximum uptime for shift workers and, in line with future sustainability regulations, they support Bluetooth 5.0 and feature a USB Type-C charging port.

James Wong, Vice President Product Management at Mitel noted the importance of reliable, secure, and flexible collaboration methods in today's work environments.

“DECT wireless communication offers all of this for mobile workers, including those operating in sectors with challenging environments,” said Wong. “With the launch of the 700d series, Mitel continues to innovate by providing unique DECT solutions that deliver over-air handset software upgrades, custom configurations, advanced security protocols, and excellent audio quality.”
