AT&T and Carbyne Join Forces to Enhance 911 Performance

By Stefania Viscusi June 22, 2023

Carbyne, a New York-based provider of advanced public safety communications, partnered with AT&T (News - Alert) to establish a secure and dependable connection between AT&T ESInet and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). This partnership creates a seamless integration with Carbyne's APEX and Universe cloud-native emergency call management and mapping solutions.

The partnership between Carbyne and AT&T brings several benefits to the table. By leveraging a cloud-native emergency call handling platform, Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) can enjoy enhanced agility, redundancy, and security.

Moving to the cloud also reduces the reliance on on-premises infrastructure and provides a resilient and redundant framework, ensuring uninterrupted service even during unexpected disruptions. Also with cloud technology, PSAPs can scale their operations and rapidly integrate new features and capabilities.

"This collaboration will bring together Carbyne's innovative solutions and AT&T's extensive experience to deliver faster, more effective emergency response capabilities to communities nationwide. Together, we are dedicated to saving lives and empowering PSAPs with the tools they need to make critical decisions in times of crisis," said Amir Elichai, CEO of Carbyne.

Specifically, the new integration will provide:

  • Streamlined emergency call management as Carbyne APEX consolidates rich media data points into a single platform, providing call takers with comprehensive information including video, photos, geolocation, and AI-based audio translation. This streamlines the handling of emergency situations, enabling call takers to focus on addressing emergencies rather than struggling with complex technology.
  • User-friendly and seamless integration: Carbyne APEX is a cloud-native platform that is user-friendly and integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure. This ensures a smooth transition for call takers, minimizing the learning curve associated with new technology and allowing for efficient management and response to emergencies.
  • Enhanced decision-making capabilities: Carbyne Universe, an Over The Top (OTT) solution, provides PSAPs with access to rich media data such as video, photos, and geolocation. This valuable information enhances decision-making capabilities and response efficiency, enabling PSAPs to make more informed and effective decisions during emergencies.
  • Compatibility with existing contracts: Carbyne Universe is designed to function within any environment without disrupting existing contractual agreements. This means that PSAPs can benefit from advanced emergency call management and mapping features without having to complete their current contracts or undergo major infrastructural changes.
"AT&T is committed to improving the safety of the communities we serve – from delivering the nation's public safety network to evolving 911 call centers across the country with NextGen (News - Alert) 911 solutions like AT&T ESInet," said Matt Walsh, AVP – FirstNet and NextGen 911 Products, AT&T. "Our work with Carbyne is the next step in this endeavor by delivering cloud-centric solutions to give dispatchers a user-friendly interface that enables faster, more informed decision-making during critical situations."
