Cisco and AT&T Partner to Enhance Connectivity for Mobile-First Workforces

By Stefania Viscusi June 15, 2023

In today's work environment, employees are no longer confined to a single location or device. Whether they are on the shop floor, at the branch office, working from home, or even during their commute, the modern workforce needs seamless connectivity.

Cisco (News - Alert) and AT&T introduced new solutions aimed at improving connectivity and transforming the calling experience for these hybrid workforces.

By combining Cisco's Webex Calling and SD-WAN solutions, with AT&T (News - Alert)'s mobile network, businesses of all sizes can provide their employees with a reliable, secure, and consistent experiences so they can thrive in any work environment.

As the use of mobile phones for primary business devices also increases, enterprises require connectivity solutions that are both user-friendly and secure. The partnership between Cisco and AT&T aims to deliver a mobile-first approach and provide users with the ability to make and receive calls on multiple devices while on the go.

Key features of the integration include:

  1. Single number mobile identity: Users can combine the functionalities of an AT&T wireless smartphone with Webex Calling, enabling flexible communication while on the move.
  2. Cost reduction: By eliminating the need for traditional fixed business lines, enterprises can lower their costs.
  3. High-quality voice calls: AT&T Cloud Voice with Webex Go ensures secure and clear business calls using AT&T's reliable mobile network. Calls can seamlessly transition to a fully immersive Webex collaboration experience with features like closed captioning, noise removal, and whiteboarding.
  4. Efficient and secure collaboration: The joint solution enhances effective and secure collaboration regardless of location, leading to improved knowledge sharing and faster decision-making

"Mobility is key to enabling hybrid work. Businesses want a seamless and reliable communication experience," said Mike Troiano, Senior Vice President, Business Products, AT&T. "At the heart of our collaboration with Cisco is a shared vision to empower organizations with secure connectivity, unmatched reliability, and deep network expertise. By deeply integrating our technology, businesses can be assured their communications are built on a solid foundation. Together we are unlocking new levels of productivity, agility, and connectivity— enabling teams to thrive in the modern work landscape."

In addition, their collaboration will provide secure on-demand connectivity for SD-WAN, along with optional services such as mobile 5G and fiber broadband, catering to businesses of all sizes. This is particularly noteworthy as the demand for seamless and secure connectivity to the cloud and site-to-site experiences continues to grow rapidly.

"The network is at the core of the modern workforce. The ability to get things done is no longer reliant on where you are, but how you are connected," said Jonathan Davidson, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Networking. "Hybrid work only works when there is a seamless, consistent, and secure experience for workers, regardless of location. Together with AT&T, we are giving businesses what they need to securely connect everything and everyone—wherever they are. Because when everything is connected, then anything is possible."

The new self-service option for small and medium businesses from AT&T will streamline and expedite the deployment of SD-WAN. With AT&T Business Wi-Fi and Cisco Meraki, businesses can now easily establish, secure, manage, and expand their networks.

For larger enterprises, AT&T offers a fully managed connectivity solution called AT&T SD-WAN with Cisco. This includes built-in security and analytics and enables enterprises to securely connect users and devices to any application in their multicloud environment through a SASE-enabled architecture. This ensures integrated security and application optimization, providing end-to-end visibility across the network.
