An iPhone (News - Alert) user receives a call from an unknown number. They're hesitant to answer because they're not sure if it's a spam call or an important one from a business or individual they may not have in their contacts.
In this case, they could use Truecaller to identify the caller and decide whether to answer the call.
Traditionally, Truecaller searches its extensive database of phone numbers and provides the user with the name and other relevant information associated with the number, if available. This information might include the caller’s location, their social media profiles, and whether or not they’ve been previously reported as spam by other Truecaller users.
Now, thanks to a new update to Truecaller, the complete Live Caller ID experience is available on iPhone.
IPhone users are provided with caller ID information, like those on Android (News - Alert), through an integration with the virtual assistant, Siri. For example, when that same iPhone user from before receives an incoming call from an unknown number, the new update allows them to say, "Hey Siri, search Truecaller.” The app will then do a quick search and present it on the calling screen itself. This new feature is exclusively available to premium subscribers of Truecaller on iOS 16 and newer.
But that isn’t all, in terms of updates.
Truecaller has also enhanced its spam detection capabilities to better identify and protect users from spam calls, specifically. Premium subscribers receive automatic updates to their spam list, while free users can manually update the spam list to ensure safe and efficient communication.
There is also a new feature that allows users to read other members' feedback on spammers, as well as to contribute their own comments. The main purpose is to enhance Truecaller's spam detection capabilities with real community input.
Furthermore, incoming SMS messages are automatically categorized into finance, orders, reminders, coupons, offers and junk. This feature is now live for iOS 16 and newer in India, South Africa and Nigeria and will soon be rolled out to other countries.
"At Truecaller, we continue to focus on our users' requirements and meet them with innovative solutions and offers,” Alan Mamedi, co-founder and CEO at Truecaller. “The features are fun and easy to use. They are in line with our mission to create reliable communication and make the future of communication smarter, safer and more efficient for our users.”
