The modern world heavily relies on the internet – that is perhaps an understatatement. The reality is most of our daily activities would be impossible without it. From a business perspective, the internet is fundamental for carrying out just about every business function. However, despite advances in technology, reliable high-speed internet is still not accessible to everyone, especially many living or working in rural areas.
Satellite internet, though, is closing the gap between the high-speed internet provided in cities and the lack of internet provided in rural areas.
Granite Telecom, which wants to provide internet service everywhere its customers need it – even in rural areas – sees satellite as a means that that end. It can help Granite support customers where other internet service isn’t available. To do that, it has reestablished a partnership with Viasat to deliver satellite-based internet service over Viasat’s global satellite network to markets across the U.S.
Viasat’s satellites deliver fast internet to power critical business applications and ensure businesses stay connected to critical operations when primary connections are disconnected by outages, disasters or local infrastructure issues.
“Viasat’s expansive coverage footprint supports Granite in bridging the coverage gap for those customers virtually anywhere in the U.S.,” said Granite President and CEO Rob Hale.
Granite is a $1.8 billion company that provides advanced communications solutions to more than 650,000 locations. Through its arrangement with Viasat, Granite is expected to offer satellite internet service at broadband speeds to 99% of the country, even in the most difficult to reach rural areas. This allows Granite to provide coverage for all customer locations, ensuring no site is without reliable, affordable internet access.
In addition, Granite offers flexibility with a month-to-month option, giving Granite customers the opportunity to customize plans to meet the unique demands of their businesses with a seamless, single-source solution.
“Our relationship with Granite provides businesses an opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of broadband internet,” said Wayne Parrish, head of U.S. sales, Viasat.
With Viasat satellite internet typically installed in three to five days, Granite customers get high-speed internet up and running almost immediately.
Granite is exhibiting at ITExpo in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Feb. 14-17, 2023. #TECHSUPERSHOW includes nearly a dozen collocated business technology events that bring buyers, users, sellers and partners together under one roof to educate and build business relationships around the technologies driving business success today.
