Vonage Collaborates with SAP to Explore Generative AI and NextGen Use Cases

By Stefania Viscusi September 20, 2024

Vonage announced a new collaboration with SAP SE that is focused on leveraging generative AI and NextGen (News - Alert) use cases. Using Vonage’s Application Programming Interface (API) platform and SAP Business AI, the partnership hopes to accelerate digital transformations and enhance customer experiences while also improving operational efficiencies.

“We are delighted to partner with Vonage to revolutionize the use of SAP (News - Alert) Business AI across the API landscape,” said Michael Ameling, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer of SAP Business Technology Platform. “This collaboration opens a world of possibilities for developers and businesses, empowering them to innovate and succeed like never before. Our partnership is not just about cutting-edge generative AI innovation, but about redefining the future, with network API integration and transformation. Together, we bring a blend of expertise, next-generation technology, and a shared vision towards customer value.”

As per the partnership, Vonage (News - Alert) will provide SAP with access to its suite of network APIs, including Quality-on-Demand (QoD), Device Location, and Number Verification, as part of its Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS). These APIs are designed to enable real-time, high-quality experiences for various use cases, including extended reality (XR) applications and autonomous vehicle support. The QoD API, in particular, will play a crucial role in delivering elevated user experiences, enhancing broadcast services, and enabling smoother real-time interactions.

SAP plans to utilize these APIs to enhance security measures and improve asset tracking capabilities. By combining Vonage’s Device Location and Number Verification APIs, SAP will provide a more robust authentication process, mitigating the risk of fraud for its customers. Additionally, Device Location APIs, in conjunction with the Internet of Things (IoT), will improve tracking and fleet management through the use of network-based location data.

The companies said they also plan to explore combining generative AI with immersive services on SAP’s Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) using Vonage’s network APIs. This is expected to drive innovation in areas such as sustainability, advanced data visualization, and augmented reality training.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with SAP to power innovative new capabilities with communications and network APIs coupled with SAP Business AI. With the increasing demands in customer expectations, businesses need to pivot their approach to designing and delivering more secure and enhanced engagement experiences for their customers and employees and become data-driven organizations set for success -- and they need to do it faster and easier than before. Together, we aim to make new capabilities available that can help developers create new applications for enterprises to reimagine their business, improve customer experiences, and create new communications and engagement capabilities,” said Seckin Arikan, Head of Business Unit API for Vonage.
