Transformative Voice Security: Experts at Mutare are Partnering with ITEXPO Keynoter Webex by Cisco

By Alex Passett November 10, 2023

It’s nearly 2024, and organizations have what may feel like hundreds (if not thousands) of options when it comes to voice threat defense. These modern security measures block voice-centric threats to users and networks, threats often defined as “unwanted voice traffic.” This can include voice spam, call fraudsters, spoof calls, vishing, smishing and robocalls. These invasive forms of communication can be initiated by both humans and by machines, and they vary significantly in threat level; from minor nuisances to full-blown malicious attacks, bad actors’ arsenals are only becoming more dynamic.

Of course, you wouldn’t be reading this on Internet Telephony if relevant solutions weren’t just around the corner.

Such is the case with the following news from the voice threat defense experts at Mutare and from Webex by Cisco, an S-tier provider of collaboration technologies and award-winning cloud-based solutions.

The long-story-short of it: Mutare is officially bringing its multi-layered voice traffic firewall, a.k.a. the Mutare Voice Traffic Filter (VTF), to the well-known Webex App Hub. This gives Webex Contact Center customers new armor, so to speak, when it comes to voice security protections. Through this Mutare + Webex by Cisco (News - Alert) integration, unwanted voice traffic and the threats therein are stamped out at the inception of their call flow, thus consistently protecting individual callers, hard-working agents and their respective organizations.

By utilizing proprietary voice data analysis capabilities built into five distinct layers of filtering technologies, Mutare’s VTF detects and removes spam, scam, spoofed and otherwise unwanted calls before they enter the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. So not only is this firewall valuable as a standalone offering, but looping in Webex by Cisco makes it so more people get the protections they need.

"As an avid Cisco partner for many years, we are thrilled to bring voice threat protection and defense to the Webex platform via the Webex App Hub," said Chuck French, Mutare's Chief Growth Officer. "Given the heightened awareness around vishing, social engineering, and voice-based attacks due to the surge in high-profile voice-centric cyber incidents, the timing for this Webex partnership couldn't be better."

Hear more about Webex-vetted solutions from Aruna Ravichandran, SVP and Chief Marketing and Customer Officer, Webex by Cisco, at ITEXPO (News - Alert) 2024, taking place February 13-15, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW. Since 1999, ITEXPO has combined educational conference programming with a robust exhibit hall, networking events, and other activities, bringing together buyers and providers of business technology products and services that drive business success.
