The ease-of-use benefits that voicemail transcription services offer are pretty simple to understand. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Some industries require that employees record phone interactions. That means it’s very helpful if those records can be easily located and searched after the fact, and having those records in written form helps with all of that.

Voicemail transcription is also a very handy tool for such professions as reporters. Yet many businesses have legacy voicemail systems that don’t support this kind of thing. Ditech Networks is among the companies offering voicemail transcription services, and its services work with any PBX (News - Alert).

“This service is very sticky,” said Vishal Agrawal, sales director of North American Voice to Text at Ditech Networks.

Ditech Networks this year launched a channel program through which it sells its voicemail transcription services. While it has already offered its voicemail transcription services through carriers like VoIP providers, Agrawal added, it’s now expanded the go-to-market strategy to also work directly with master agents and subagents. The Ditech Networks (News - Alert) program provides agents with a dedicated channel manager.

Ditech Networks has been around for more than 15 years selling voice processing solutions. Its products use a wide variety of networks, including in VoIP, wireless and wireline networks. The company’s customers include Verizon, Sprint/Nextel, Orascom Telecom, AT&T, China Unicom, Global Crossing and West Corp. (News - Alert)

Ditech recently announced a partnership with to deliver voice-to-text services.

“Ditech’s PhoneTag Voicemail-to-Text service nicely complements StreamWIDE’s (News - Alert) messaging offering," said Pascal Beglin, StreamWIDE CEO. “Further, PhoneTag’s multiple language support allows us to support our customers in North and South American as well as European markets.”

StreamWIDE’s voice messaging solutions allow carriers to launch value-added services including voicemail, visual voicemail, voice-SMS and integration with social networks. PhoneTag’s voice-to-text capabilities complement the StreamWIDE offering by converting audio accurately into text.
