8x8 'Fuze-ing' Future of Work Together

The pandemic put the future of work in perspective, propelling a mass exodus to the home office and reimagining workflows from the c-suite, to the call center. Growing interest and adoption of cloud communications solutions is creating a highly competitive space, showcasing service providers jockeying for position.


8X8 announced a definitive agreement to purchase enterprise cloud-based communications provider Fuze for roughly $250 million in stock and cash. The move augments 8x8’s global presence and customer base while driving further 8x8 XCaaS (eXperience Communications as a Service) innovation. 

Future of Work Expo contibutor, Jon Arnold principal of J Arnold & Associates told TMC, “With the Fuze acquisition, 8x8 sends a clear message to both end buyers and channels that they are strong and staying in the game.” 

In purchasing Fuze, 8x8 is facilitating an influx of resources for engineering, support, research and development toward optimizing its single-vendor, integrated CPaaS, CCaaS and UCaaS solution: XCaaS. 8x8 makes great strides in its European presence, and adds robust cross-sell opportunities to support enterprises engagement initiatives with its CPaaS and omnichannel contact center capabilities.

“The two companies are very complementary, but it remains to be seen how the branding and go to market strategy will play out. 8x8 deepens its reach into enterprises and vertical markets, both of which are strong suits for Fuze.  The combined top lines will now get 8x8 closer to $1 billion in revenues faster, and the combined R&D capabilities will keep the innovation coming, especially to drive 8x8’s XCaaS value proposition,” Arnold continued.

Fuze CEO Brian Day echoed similar sentiments, “Combining resources and expertise with 8x8 is a natural fit, bringing with it needed scale and accelerating the pace of product innovation with differentiated solutions that capitalize on this massive opportunity, all of which will serve to benefit our enterprise customer base.”
