The MPLS/Frame
Relay Alliance has approved a new Time Division Multiplexing
(TDM)-over-MPLS Implementation Agreement (IA). The IA, entitled TDM
Transport over MPLS using ATM Adaptation Layer 1 (AAL1), outlines a
method for carriers to offer private line TDM services such as n*
64kps (DS0), T1, E1, E3, T3 while delivering new service offerings
over a common MPLS network. The new IA may be applied in the design
of carrier or Provider Edge (PE) routers, multi-service edge
switches and dedicated gateway equipment.

Acme Packet announced that Agsm Telecomunicazioni has selected its
Net-Net session border controllers for a multi-phased project that
will first deliver enhanced SIP-based services to business and
residential customers, and will later include peering with other
service provider networks. Owned by Agsm, the multi-utility company
of Verona, Agsm Telecomunicazioni selected the Net-Net session
border controllers for the hosted NAT traversal and advanced
security and topology hiding features that are so critical to
offering hosted IP services. Later this year when they begin
exchanging traffic with other leading IP service providers
throughout Italy, the SIP-H.323 signaling interworking functionality
will prove critical.
