When the Oakland A’s come to mind, many likely look to Moneyball, maybe it’s Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire and the famous bash brothers that is the first elicited images. One could argue, the well-decorated Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise will serve as a showcase for cloud communications.

The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum will be renamed RingCentral Coliseum – pending formal approval from MLB. The stadium's board of directors approved the name change as part of a multi-year agreement with the cloud communications provider during a May 31, 2019 meeting.

The revenue from the deal will go straight to the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) and put use for facility management.

JPA Chairman and Oakland City Council Member Larry Reid said, “We welcome RingCentral as a key partner to this iconic venue. With this investment, RingCentral has shown a commitment to the fans of Oakland, the Bay Area and beyond. We look forward to collaborating with them to keep Oakland sports on the global stage.”

RingCentral is a key partner with a number of sports franchises; a founding partner of the Golden State Warriors; technology partner of the Detroit Pistons; and is the official business communications partner for the Oakland A’s.

JPA Vice-Chairman and Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley said, “RingCentral’s sponsorship stands as a testament to the Bay Area’s technology community partnering with important public venues. With this agreement, local taxpayers will receive an important return on their 50-year investment in the stadium.”

Cloud communications are forging a path toward an elevated fan experience, improved back office collaboration and making sure the next call to the bullpen goes through.
