Spring has sprung. Well, at least it’s attempting here in the Northeast United States. And as the weather warms, the birds return and so does major league baseball. Each franchise brings with it hope for the new season, and some are leveraging cloud communications for an edge.

The Oakland Athletics announced the selection of RingCentral as the organization’s official business communications partner, which will result in integration across the franchise and co-marketing efforts.

“RingCentral’s leadership in the cloud communications and collaboration space and their understanding of our needs makes them a perfect partner for us, as we strive to be one of the league’s most innovative teams,” said Chris Giles, chief operating officer, Oakland A’s. “This partnership will provide our staff with a best-in-class communications experience.”

The duo agreed on a four-year deal. RingCentral can adorn the Oakland Coliseum with signage – the left field wall and backstop, included – and during gameplay RingCentral is responsible for supporting calls to the bullpen, instant replays as well as the team’s radio network.

“We’re excited to partner with the Oakland A’s to enhance their overall communications experience,” said David Sipes, chief operating officer, RingCentral. “The partnership will give the A’s access to our differentiated open cloud communications platform that integrates voice, video, and team messaging, to enhance fan engagement and improve productivity across the organization.”
