MLGW Offers Extended Customer Service Hours Due To High Volume
According to a recent report from ABC24 news, Memphis Light Gas and Water(MLGW) is extending call center hours for customers due to usually long service delays.
Like many call centers across the country, MLGW is having a tough time managing and maintaining adequate customer service due to staff shortages and high call volumes. However, hold ups in MLGW call center operations have forced some customers to wait hours to reach an agent. Representatives with MLGW state the call center is currently 36 representatives short of its optimal staff number, which is critical for managing the roughly 4,000 calls coming through the center every day.
To help ensure customers are taken care of in a timely fashion, MLGW is now offering customer service Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, MLGW spokesperson Gale Jones-Carson told ABC news 12 new customer service agents are currently in training, all of which will help cut delays significantly. MLGW is currently offering over $24 per hour for new agents.
While calls make up the majority of MLGW inquiries, Jones-Carson claims social media is a great alternative for quick service.
"Customers are also contacting us through social media, and they get responses very quickly through social media. So we have many ways for our customers to continue communicating through us,"
MLGW customers can call 901-544-6549 to receive assistance, and can visit MLGW social media for additional service.
