Square Inc. Starts Search for 300 New Call Center Employees
The business world is finally starting to shift in a positive direction after nearly two years of stagnant growth and economic uncertainty. Now that COVID restrictions are easing up, companies with large contact center centers are searching for new talent to get operations thriving again. Yet labor shortages are still a huge issue among hiring managers, while customer service volume levels are on the rise.
According to a new report from St. Louis Dispatch, this is the exact situation that payment processing company Square,Inc. is currently facing. Square is currently looking to hire 300 employees at four separate employment hubs in St. Louis,MO, Atlanta,GA, Scottsdale,AZ, and Columbus, OH. This announcement comes just one month before the company begins a new approach to customer service inquiries, which will make it easier for customers to submit calls. Square currently requires customers to submit a 12 digit code in order to reach a representative, but is moving away from this approach to create an easier process for users.
Square recently hired 250 employees across the globe, and currently has a workforce of roughly 5,000. This latest round of hiring will primarily focus on US-based operations, with a heavy emphasis on the St. Louis branch. Recruiters are currently looking for qualified candidates with a high degree of experience in retail, travel, education and food service.
Due to Square’s financial success over the last few years, the company could be an attractive employment destination for those looking for new work. However, this ongoing labor shortage could be a major problem for less reputable brands, which means companies will need to step up their game in order to persuade potential hires to join them.
