As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the globe, more and more workplaces are taking responsible steps to protect their customers, employees and the public by closing early or encouraging employees to work from home.
The respiratory infections and other problems that can arise from the virus and the fact that there are still no vaccines, has made the precautions even more urgent.

Earlier this week, representatives from a Verizon (News - Alert) Call Center in Elgin, South Carolina announced they had to temporarily close after finding out that an employee tested positive for coronavirus.
The precautionary measure ensures that anyone in close contact with the individual can self isolate and monitor themselves. It also allows for the physical location at 501 Spears Creek Church Road in Elgin, SC, to be disinfected and cleansed.
The main directives for those who have come into direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 is to self-quarantine and monitor their condition.
According to company officials, the call center will receive a deep cleaning of all desks, door handles and common areas.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported the state’s first death related to COVID-19 novel coronavirus earlier this week, an elderly person that was a resident of Lexington Medical Center Extended Care Skilled Nursing Facility.
There is an ongoing global effort to stop the spread of the virus including keeping a safe, social distance from others in public, washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and the use of hand sanitizer in between washings. Anyone who feels sick is advised to stay home.
