Virtual PBX Market Gains Ground

Who wouldn’t want to have a solution in place that will save you money on all types of business communications, increase your return on investment, and allow you to gain access to unlimited local and long distance calling? I know that I would, as well as a majority of Americans, and that is why a virtual PBX is vital in order to power rich HD voice quality while allowing companies to keep their current phone systems right where they are.

A recently released report from the research firm aptly named Infonetics Research titled, “Enterprise Unified Communication, VoIP, and TDM Equipment,” points to statistics that while the sales of IP PBXs and virtual PBXs is rising, the PBX market overall is only expanding slightly. This is due to the fact that many companies are still hesitant to implement these next-generation offerings and are not hiring additional staff members as fast as what was once seen in previous years.

With IP PBX sales rose around 4 percent for the first quarter and unified communications systems sales grew by 16 percent, the global revenue from PBX/KTS systems decreased 4.6 percent from the previous quarter, to about $2.06 billion. When looking at these findings in comparison to the first quarter of 2011, the market was down by only a single percentage point.

An interesting trend shown in this report however was in the Caribbean and Latin America region; sales grew 18 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011. In Asia Pacific specifically, the PBX vertical increased by 16 percent in 1Q12 from 4Q11.

The latest company to enter their foot into the ever-growing industry is MTN Business, an organization that has just unveiled its MTN Hosted Private Branch Exchange (PBX), while the goal of raising the bar on communications within huge corporations nationwide.

Touted as a 360 degree communication solution that encompasses fixed and mobile Internet access, data centers for hosting websites and applications, calling and messaging centers, and Software-as-a-Service applications, the robust PBX also includes innovative features like multiple attend conferencing and a fully functional call center.

“With MTN Hosted PBX, businesses no longer need to worry about the significant cost of managing and maintaining in-house communications systems. They can focus on their core business and MTN will deliver the needed communications solutions. With state-of-the-art features, this solution gives businesses greater power and productivity,” Eric Nsarkoh, general manager of MTN Business added.
