Carnival Launches myRecognition Program on Maritz CultureNext Platform
Carnival Cruise Line announced the launch of its employee recognition program, myRecognition. Built on Maritz Motivation Solutions’ CultureNext platform, the program began in August and is being used by 3,000 shore-side headquarters and call center employees at both Carnival Cruise Line and Carnival Corporation.
“We put people at the heart of everything we do at Carnival,” said David Klein, director, organizational development for Carnival Cruise Line. “We know that building pride in our company, camaraderie between our team members and trust in our teams and in leadership is critical to success,”
HR looked to make recognition simple, consistent, and equitable for all of Carnival. Enter Maritz, with a strategic approach to solution development and a flexible solution for addressing Carnival’s unique needs with end-to-end services and intuitive technology.
Collaboration is a key core value for Carnival: 63 percent of the recognitions since the program’s launch are based on it. So, how are employees recognized? Phase one includes peer-to-peer ecards, life celebration cards, and service anniversary cards. The program has plans to expand further.
“Sometimes a thank you is just not enough. The application allows you to thank people who work with you and demonstrates respect by taking the time to recognize the person,” shared Lisa McPherson, a building facilities manager for Carnival sites in Miami and Davie, Florida.
David Brady, a Carnival employee for 10 years, is an active user of the program, celebrating his team and their accomplishments when they’ve gone the extra mile.
“I love seeing my team celebrated. At Carnival, we are in the business of people and myRecognition better enables us to recognize our most important asset, our people,” he said.
Since implementing the myRecognition program, Carnival is a satisfied Maritz customer with a satisfied team. A happy and satisfied team leads to increased productivity. It all may seem simple but, it’s the little things that count.
