Inspiring the Call Center
Call center agents need more than just the stimulation that they receive from talking to customers and clients, even co-workers that sit around them. It is not inexpensive to run a call center, so to get the utmost from the agents, sometimes one has to think outside of the box.
There are a number of inspirational and motivational call center games agents can play for stimulation and motivation. Plus, they can be a lot of fun, to boot.
Pod Wars works well if the call center is in a pod setup. The concept is every time an agent makes a sale, the agent in the pod next to them gets “knocked out.” “Like in the game of Battleships, in Pod Wars teams compete against one another and when one agent makes a sale they get to sink the advisor sitting in the same seat on the opposing pod,” one agent shares. The incentives can vary from spa days to dinners so it is extremely rewarding.
Balls of Steel sounds far more aggressive than it actually is. Each agent receives five balls when they clock in. Each time a sale is made, the agent can take a ball away from another agent, and the one who has the most balls at the end of the shift or workday, wins.
The Jelly Baby Tree is one of the sweetest games for the call center, as each agent is given a Jelly Baby Tree. They then color in the Jelly Baby they think most represents them. In the end, the agent explains why the baby was chosen and it helps to form a closer bond between the team.
These are just a few games to motivate and inspire within the call center that will increase productivity and stimulate the minds of the agents. Teamwork is essential when it comes to working in the call center. By playing these types of games, agents can let loose a bit at work, finding more happiness in the day-to-day affairs of the call center. Happy agents make for happy customers.
