By virtue of all of its activities, TMC enjoys tremendous reach into the marketplaces it serves, including both the vendor community as well as readers and conference attendees.

OUR ORIGINS

Mr. Nadji Tehrani founded Technology Marketing Corporation in 1972 as a publishing company adhering to the highest standard of ethics and professional journalism. Now known as TMC, the company began by publishing trade magazines for the chemical coatings field. In the late 1970s, Tehrani began regularly selling advertising space in his magazines over the phone. He quickly discovered that phone sales outpaced face-to-face sales by 300 percent. Hoping to learn more about phone sales, Tehrani scoured newsstands and libraries in search of a magazine covering this nascent field -- yet no magazine covered telemarketing. Undaunted, the entrepreneurial Tehrani started his own magazine in 1982, trademarking the name Telemarketing® for the new publication.

Over time, Telemarketing® magazine evolved first into C@LL CENTER Solutions™ magazine, then C@LL CENTER CRM Solutions™, until its rename as CUSTOMER INTER@CTION Solutions® in December 2000. Its current title is most indicative of what the magazine has been providing since launching in 1982: business and technical information on how to more effectively equip and run today's contact center.

GETTING INTO SHOW BUSINESS

In 1986, TMC launched Telemarketing and Business Communications (TBT), the first call center trade show. This show evolved into CTI EXPO™ and quickly became the fastest-growing conference and trade show in the rapidly expanding computer telephony, Internet telephony, and contact center markets -- tripling attendance and exhibition space in its first year. In 2000, CTI EXPO™ became Communications SOLUTIONS EXPO™. Over the years, Communications SOLUTIONS™ EXPO developed a loyal following of attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors encompassing all industry factions: resellers, developers, end users, and service providers.

MORE SUCCESSFUL MAGAZINES

In the mid 1990s, TMC became focused on the convergence of the telephony and computer industries by launching CTI® magazine, which covered the computer-telephony integration field. The term "CTI" originally described the link that connects a PBX or ACD to a computer. This link was first popularized in call centers.

CTI magazine was the first in its market to have engineers test products in a laboratory setting. Few computer publications even do this today. Since CTI can be more complex than the general PC market, it surprised CTI magazine founder and current TMC president Rich Tehrani that no other magazine was producing in-depth, objective CTI product reviews. So, TMC devoted tremendous resources to launch TMC Labs™ as the first and most authoritative testing lab serving this newly converged world of telecom and datacom.

TMC LABS: Our In-House Testing Facility

TMC Labs™ began its mission in early 1996 as CTI Labs, coinciding with the debut of CTI magazine. Since then, the Lab has changed its name to TMC Labs, and moved to a brand new, extra large and state-of-the-art testing facility.

In the beginning, TMC publishers clearly defined the Labs' mission: to conduct unbiased product reviews in the style of the best computer magazines, but for the nascent converged communications industry. In large part through TMC Labs, TMC has built a solid reputation in the marketplaces the company serves, and the philosophy of professionalism and unbiased, in-depth education—coupled with the respected product reviews of TMC Labs—is what sets TMC apart from its competitors.

TMC Labs comprises of an experienced staff of engineers who know how to effectively communicate and write. It is their job to acquire, install, evaluate and relay to TMC's magazine subscribers the advantages and pitfalls of the latest hardware and software for the next-gen communications, contact center/CRM, handheld computing and biometrics markets.

VOICE AND DATA CONVERGE

INTERNET TELEPHONY® magazine launches in 1998. As the field of voice and data convergence grew, TMC realized a tremendous opportunity to provide a magazine covering one of the fastest growing subsets of CTI -- Internet telephony.

INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine focuses on the convergence of voice, video, data and fax transmitted using Internet Protocol, or IP. INTERNET TELEPHONY is the longest running magazine in the field and remains the only BPA Worldwide-audited magazine focusing 100% on VoIP.

In 1999, TMC launched INTERNET TELEPHONY® Conference & EXPO to further capitalize on the company's success in the packet-based communications space.

Today, in its seventh year, INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO is the clear leader in the IP telephony field and one of the fastest growing trade shows in the country. It has become one of TMC's most successful events.

PIONEERING WEB-BASED OPERATIONS

TMC's Web-based activities centers on TMCnet.com, the largerst telecommunications portal that complements the editorial content of TMC's printed publications by disseminating original, technology-oriented information to our readers while leveraging the immediacy and flexibility of the online medium.

In addition, the company's eNews In Your Inbox division consists of over a dozen E-mail newsletters with frequencies that vary from weekly to monthly, reaching over 500,000 domestic and international subscribers.

As part of its Web group, TMC also publishes two leading online publications:

In the summer of 2001, TMC sought to take advantage of a slowing economy that left many publishers and trade show organizers retreating by launching Planet PDA™ magazine and a companion trade show and conference. Recognizing the crucial need among enterprises worldwide to quickly establish guidelines within their organizations for PDA use, Planet PDA's mission from the start was to educate MIS and corporate management about successfully selecting, deploying and supporting PDAs across their organizations.

BiometriTech™ launched in January 2002. BiometriTech covers biometrics technology, or the use of physical characteristics such as fingerprints or voice to authenticate users and control access. The magazine's goal is to provide the latest news, along with original articles and columns from our knowledgeable staff and outside experts, covering technology issues, implementation obstacles and solutions and successful installations of biometric components and the results they have yielded. We also feature product and technology reviews from our very own TMC Labs testing facility. Additionally, our in-house columnists focus on the very important balance of security and privacy, and the inherent impact biometrics will have on our personal freedoms.

GOING DIGITAL

Starting December 2004, TMC is publishing it's two flagship titles, Customer Interaction Solutions and INTERNET TELEPHONY, in digital .pdf format delivered via E-mail.

Rich Tehrani, TMC President, says "Nothing could be easier than opening your E-mail box to view the most recent issue of one of TMC's magazines. It's the same great magazine delivered to you before the print edition arrives." Tehrani also announced TMC will be publishing five new digital publications focusing on VoIP development, Unified Communications, WiMAX, WiFI technologies, and speech technologies.
