A recent industry blog posts discusses the need for unified communications (UC) and the case IT pros can make for their boards of directors to invest in that segment of operations.
At the risk of getting my good friends at IHS Infonetics, and for that matter other industry analyst firms a tad annoyed, precision in the headlines of announcements about new reports would be useful. The case in point is the recent announcement of the IHS Infonetics report, Enterprise Unified Communications and Voice Equipment report. The headline was, Businesses' Move to the Cloud Dampening Sales of Unified Communications Solutions. This led to my first thought that the entire unified communications (UC) sector, including premises, cloud and hybrid solutions, was faltering even though the headline indicated the move to the cloud was a constraint.

It is no secret that telecommunications networking is in the midst of major transformation driven by the needs of a real-time connected world whose data and data center centricity is forcing communications service providers (CSPs) to quickly transform from a static and network-device-centric service model to one that is dynamic and cloud-centric. It is why so much resource and attention is being paid to software defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) to make networks more agile, secure, less costly and easier to manage.
A new report by IDC says that health insurers are increasingly using different channels for communication. In fact, the report says that the number of health insurers using multiple channels is going to more than triple over the next two years.
