IdolStats.com Predicts Winner of Season 9 American Idol Using Attensity360

By , Call Center Management Contributor

Attensity Group said that it has monitored millions of conversations on the social Web to predict that Lee Dewyze would be the season 9 American Idol.

"Over 23 million Americans tuned into the American Idol finale this year to find out whether Crystal or Lee would be this season's winner but at IdolStats.com we knew the answer well in advance," Brad Brodigan, senior vice president and general manager at Attensity.

This season, IdolStats.com, powered by Attensity360, tracked social media conversations to make "educated" decisions based on the social media insights, said company officials. Attensity360 is the company's social media monitoring and analytics application.

Other social media management systems have evolved to capture customer response data like BPA's Builder tool to help companies harness the vital information passed between customer to customer. These tools can also be used to create quality customer experiences while gathering information.

Attensity's IdolStats.com presented a summarized view of the sentiment, coverage and general buzz about the show and each of the contestants, said company officials. The information was presented -- gathered from across the Web -- to determine American sentiment toward contestants.

Automatically, Attensity360 aggregates and evaluates the chatter happening on blogs, message boards, forums, micro-blogs, online news media and social networks, said company officials.

And, using this analysis, IdolStats.com then presented a rank of the contestants based on negative and positive sentiment and their share of the total American Idol conversation.

Brodigan said that Attensity360's advanced social media monitoring technology provides organizations with predictive and actionable results by listening in on conversations across the web and analyzing them for sentiment, opinions, issues and opportunities.

Additionally, the company has used American Idol as a case study for how Attensity360 can measure conversations about companies, products, issues and competitors with broad strokes. Company officials said that it can also provide detailed and granular data points, such as the influence of Judge Simon Cowell, fan power-dialing and contestant "crushes."

Attensity Group provides software applications based on Web 3.0 semantic technologies to find, understand, and use information trapped in unstructured text to drive critical decision-making.

Earlier this year in April, the company announced the execution of a definitive agreement to acquire Biz360.
