A recent report from Infonetics found that companies are spending less money on PBX (News - Alert) systems than they did the same quarter a year ago. These organizations are less eager to spend and when they do, it’s on PBX alternatives like UC or cloud technology.
The report found that the global market for PBXs in the latest quarter was 7 percent less than in Q3 2013. According to Infonetics (News - Alert) analyst Diane Meyers, “North America again had the toughest quarter of all the regions, with a double digit decline from the year-ago third quarter.” Meyers found that the buying cycle was longer than before, in addition to more interest in hosted solutions.
By contrast, the Asia Pacific region (APAC) had double-digit increases in revenue during the same quarter, compared to 3Q 2013. One market that experienced large growth in 3Q 2014 was in UC. Globally the market increased 21 percent from the same quarter last year...Read More
