Why Virtual PBX and the Cloud Make Sense for Any Organization

The concept of big data is often used in corporate discussions as companies fight for the consumer dollar through relevant offers and personalized communications. As more and more data is captured and managed, it must be stored and made easily accessible. For many, this means moving to the cloud.

Such a move makes good business sense when data volumes are exceeding capacity. Virtualization offers a cost effective method for storing information, and the cloud offers a safe and efficient method for management. Whether it’s a virtual PBX or data backup, offerings in the cloud are expanding. Now, even government agencies are getting in on the benefits.

According to a recent post in the Nevada Daily Mail, records within Vernon County are moving to the cloud. A project underway there ensures records will be available regardless of physical conditions. The County is taking advantage of virtualization and cloud backup. Blend these options with a virtual PBX and the County would have business continuity firmly in place.

This move is not unlike others being made throughout the world in commercial, nonprofit and government agencies. Virtualization offers a way to speed the recovery process if equipment is broken, a natural disaster prevents normal operation or an employee simply needs to work remotely. Having access to all systems and applications whether in-house or working on the other side of the world is critical to efficient operations.

Making such a move was not always easy for government agencies, however, as the cost was sometimes difficult to justify in an environment where the technology was not always easily understood. Moving information to the cloud and leveraging virtualization technology sounds like a complex process and those who are accustomed to the status quo aren’t necessarily quick to the table when it’s time to adopt new technology. With proven improvements and cost reduction, however, the number of adopters is increasing.

The same is true for virtual PBX. Streamlining communications across a single network that allows for deep integration of all processes and access through a Web browser is the ideal situation when an organization needs to support employees across the miles. Even if everyone is housed in the same location, adopting Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) significantly reduces the cost of communications and allows for virtual backup and continuity not easily afforded with landline configurations. One provider of innovative virutual PBX solutions, Nextiva, will be exhibiting its wide range of solutions at ITEXPO in Miami this week.

Whether the motive is to reduce costs, make information more accessible or create a more efficient environment, access through high speed connections delivers significant benefits. Getting over the idea of adopting a new way of doing things is the first step toward significant benefits.
