Tips to Position Your Small Business for Big Growth

The launch of a small business is a scary thing as there’s no guarantee that the endeavor you’ve embarked on will actually result in sustainability. You want your idea to become a reality, but the reality is that too many businesses fail every year. As a result, the entrepreneur may be more comfortable if he or she simply thinks small and never goes after the big prize.

A blog posted by business VoIP provider Nextiva highlights this trend. The average entrepreneur is thinking too small, concerned with meeting the expense expectations of today, but giving little thought to where they would like their business to end up down the road. With focused planning and strategy, this is one obstacle that can be overcome.

Nextiva offers a few tips on what you should consider if you want to take your business to the next level, hitting that elusive seven figure revenue mark.

Visualize – where do you want to take your business? If you can’t visualize where you’re going, how will you get there? Use your imagination to visualize where you want to be in year one, five or 10. Establish your goals up front and clearly define where you want to be in the future. It’s much easier to plan when you know where you’re going.

Plan – now that you know where you’re going, it’s time to figure out how to get there in smaller steps. It’s a little daunting to say you want to reach $5 million in a certain number of years, but if you break it down into small steps that are much easier to achieve, you’ll actually be able to realize success.

Focus – is there one thing you do really well? Hone is on that thing and make it your key market differentiator. Use it in your marketing material and hit it home time and again. It will easily communicate to your audience what makes you unique.

Hire – no matter how good you are or how original your idea, you won’t hit these numbers without some help. Make sure you hire the right people who will help you reach your goals. That often means surrounding yourself with brilliant people who care about your vision.

Try, Revise, Try Again – be prepared to always be evolving as you go. Pay attention to your market and make changes as necessary. What works today may not work tomorrow as consumer trends change rapidly. Be agile to accommodate this volatility.

As you go, don’t forget that business VoIP is a great way to streamline communications to control costs and remain focused on your ultimate goal.
