Deutsche Telekom Announces New Partnership with SingleWire

SignalWire, a provider of ultra-low latency programmable video and voice communications recently announced its Series B round included participation from its first European Carrier.

Telekom Innovation Pool (TIP),advised by DTCP, participated in the round. TIP is Deutsche Telekom's strategic investment fund.

Earlier this year SignalWire announced it secured $30M in the first closing of a Series B round. That round is now complemented by this recent second closing.

The funding round, according to company officials, will help increase efforts to create a complete, flat, and unified development layer and cloud platform to build next-gen communications applications.

The founders of SingleWire are already well-known for creating the Open Source FreeSWITCH project that has been the foundation for thousands of telecommunications products today.

The future-facing telecommunications technologies offered by SingleWire make it possible to have programmable cloud communications at the lowest possible latency, CPU, and bandwidth consumption. Using this approach it is able to integrate hundreds of simultaneous video, voice, and messaging streams in the cloud and stream a single feed to all participants.

Web developers are then able to make use of the communications products for digital activities, like hosting live watch parties for viewers online and stream live virtual concerts for participants in real-time.
