As the Covid-19 outbreak is driving companies across the world toclose their premises so employees can practice social distancing and, in some cases, quarantine, these same companies are having to find workarounds to traditional workplace practices for meetings, collaboration, reviews, training and more. Many companies that enable work-from home with technologies such as unified-communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) and virtual PBX have opened their platforms up to be able to serve more customers, in some cases free of charge. Other companies are using these technologies to keep their call centers open using home-based agents to ensure continuity of the customer experience, and customer access to vital information and services.

Advanced voice networking company AudioCodes is the latest to do so. The Israel-based company, which is experienced in voice-enabling Microsoft Teams, this week announced a range of solutions to support the growing trend for work-at-home employees and contact center agents and ensure business continuity in times of pandemic and other health issues requiring social distancing or office shutdown. The work-at-home solutions provided by AudioCodes focus on Microsoft Teams users, remote contact center agents and secure, VPN-less voice connectivity, according to the company.

Microsoft Teams is a unified communication and collaboration platform that brings together workplace chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration. Companies that use Teams can bring together global, remote, and dispersed workers onto the same virtual work platform, with the ability to work together and share information via a common space.

AudioCodes Mediant session border controllers (SBCs)are certified for Direct Routing to ensure seamless inbound and outbound calling for Microsoft Teams users. In addition, with AudioCodes IP phones, remote workers using the full Teams have access to high-quality voice calls, Active Directory integration and presence monitoring. For home-based call centercenter agents, AudioCodes offers an easy to deploy and operate solution that leverages WebRTC and the Opus codec for native browser-based toll quality audio over the unmanaged internet, even at peak load times. The solution integrates with existing contact center solutions and includes an SBC with integrated WebRTC gateway for remote worker connectivity. Finally, for companies with premise-based IP PBXs or UC systems, AudioCodes SBCs offer highly secure, VPN-less connectivity for remote workers with advanced media processing and voice coder capabilities
