CPaaS on the Move: Strong Growth Across All Regions Predicted

Communications platform as a service (CPaaS) makes it possible to quickly and easily add new communications services to offerings. For developers, that means the inclusion of voice, video and messaging for apps is possible without having to build an all-new real-time communications track to build upon.

As demands for more communications options increase, the need for CPaaS is also growing. According to the latest data findings from Synergy Research Group, revenues in the first three quarters of the year have already surpassed those of 2018.

This increase in adoption is attributed to how quickly and easily new functionality can be added to applications.

Affordable pricing models, including the ability to pay as you go, are also driving uptake.

As this increases, CPaaS is becoming the quickest growing in the UC market and is one pace to grow threefold in 2019 according to Synergy Research.

“CPaaS uptake is benefitting from its ability to quickly add new functionality, the ease with which it can be customized and the flexibility of its pay-as-you-go service model,” said Jeremy Duke, Synergy Research Group’s founder and Chief Analyst.

Leading the market is Twilio, which has been offering CPaaS solutions for the market for several years and was recently named a leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Cloud Communications Platforms. The company had 32 percent worldwide share in the third quarter according to Synergy.

According to the IDC MarketScape report, Twilio’s diverse range of communication channels, reputation for reliability and global reach which offers support for any market helped land the top ranking.

Other top providers in the market include Vonage, Bandwidth, MessageBird, Sinch, and Voxbone.

“While Twilio is something of a poster child for CPaaS and is the market leader in all major regions, most of the leading vendors are enjoying strong revenue growth. Across all of the major UC collaboration market segments, CPaaS now has the highest growth rate,” said Duke.
