Consolidation, Geographic Expansion Signal Cloud Maturity

Several years ago we started hearing a lot about the concept of the cloud. Over time more and more businesses and organizations embraced the cloud. And over time they’ve used the cloud to support additional and more mission-critical business applications. This is a sign of cloud maturity. So is the fact that there’s consolidation of cloud communications solution providers and that some of those organizations are using acquisition as a means to expand their geographic reach.

For example, earlier this year Gamma acquired DX Groep BV, aka Dean One.

Both companies offer cloud PBX, connectivity, and SIP trunking services. But Gamma is a U.K. cloud communications provider. And Dean One is out of the Netherlands. The former company said the deal will enable it to expand its business within Europe.

Dean One’s target end customers are small and medium enterprises. The company had 15.8 million euro revenue and 60 employees in 2017. It also had a strong channel partner network and a long-term relationship with its new owner, Gamma.

“We have known the Dean One team for a number of years and see the business as a very good fit,” said Gamma CEO Andrew Taylor.

Klaas Bottema, Dean One co-CEO, noted Gamma’s market and technical experience and it’s success with the channel. He added “Gamma is the right home for Dean One, as we look to accelerate the success we have seen in the Netherlands. They have tremendous technical and market expertise, and a track record in building and managing the channel. With their support, there is no doubt that we can grow more quickly and move into other markets which we don’t currently serve. We know Gamma very well and believe that this is a positive development for all involved.”
