Virtual PBX Addresses Ontario Township's Telecom Needs

Canada-based virtual PBX service provider Easy Office Phone has been gradually expanding its customer base. The latest news from the company is that it has been selected as the phone service provider for the Township of North Glengarry in Ontario, Canada. According to Easy Office Phone, it will provide its PBX service to the township's municipal centers and staff, which collectively serve more than 10,600 residents.

According to the service provider, the Ontario Township has realized cost savings of approximately 80 percent over the traditional landline services previously in place. In fact, the PBX platform treats the township's multiple locations as if they are one entity, making the communication between separate locations tightly integrated with direct dialing between employee extensions.

The township that is located between Ottawa and Montrea has been looking to improve cost efficiencies across its various centers since 2008. Rick Elderbroom, GIS/IT Manager, has led a technology initiative to unify North Glengarry's communications across its 17 municipal offices and service locations. Prior to the selection of Easy Office Phone, all of the township's locations were paying individually for phone, fax and Internet services. As a result, communications were not cost-efficient.

Easy Office Phone said that its service, which employs Tier 3 data centers and premium transit links, was selected based on its ability to produce a consistently high quality of service. The service provider claims that the installation is structured and methodical; ensuring that Easy Office Phone service is implemented seamlessly across the township's many locations.

Ultimately the reality is that the virtual office is growing in popularity because it allows professionals to work from anywhere and at any time, wrote virtual-pbx Contributing Editor Susan Campbell in a column titled “Exploring the Virtues of the Virtual PBX.”

Several factors are contributing to this growth included increased efficiency and reduced costs. While professionals and SMBs worldwide are continuing to leverage the benefits of virtual PBX, the competition in Web-based services is also increasing significantly.
