snom Technology, a provider of business VoIP and IP communications solutions for businesses, has partnered with Internet solutions provider Zyxel Communications, to deliver end-to-end VoIP solutions for small and medium-size businesses (SMBs).

The companies have also completed an interoperability test, as well as certified Zyxel Ethernet switches and Snom’s IP communication devices interoperable for a combined business VoIP solution, according to an official announcement from the company.

“Zyxel shares our passion and business objective for IP-based business applications and expect our collaboration to benefit both our reseller partners and our end customers to offer reliable, cost-effective VoIP solutions to SMBs on an international scale,” said Mike Storella, COO of snom, in a statement.

The combination of Zyxel’s Power-over-Ethernet-enabled Ethernet switches, coupled with the business VoIP system from snom delivers a simplified “ready-to-deploy voice communication system for businesses.” The companies also deliver an integrated and scalable solution for network installers, enabling them to sustain business continuity with their customers.

“IP based telephony is a critical business application and Zyxel recognizes the importance of providing reliable and easy to install integrated VoIP solution,” said Alpha Chen, vice president of enterprise solution business unit for Zyxel. “The collaboration with snom has combined the best-of-breed networking expertise and VOIP products for an integrated solution for unified communication.”

snom’s business VoIP desktop phone line includes IP phones such as the 3xx series, full-color touch screen desktop phones such as the 870, and SIP phones qualified by Microsoft for use with Microsoft Lync 2010 – the Snom 300 UC edition and 821 UC edition. Another key product is the snom ONE IP PBX and its hardware-based equivalent, the ONE plus.

Zyxel’s line of carrier-grade Ethernet switches for business VoIP are characterized by their non-blocking architecture for enhanced performance, Power over Ethernet (PoE) convenience for connecting VoIP devices, traffic prioritization for bandwidth intensive voice, video and data applications, Quality of Service for VoIP and video traffic and green compliance with the newest 802.3az EEE standard.

A recent virtual-pbx article highlights the advantage of business VoIP and says this form of business communications is projected to grow over the coming years. As business owners continue to move away from traditional communications to embrace business VoIP, they will expect to experience gains in efficiency and a reduction in wasted resources, the report said.
