In Infonetics’ third annual North America Business Voice over IP (VoIP) Services Leadership Scorecard, Smoothstone IP Communications has secured a ranking, the company recently announced in a press release. The international market research and consulting firm Infonetics award the ranks only to those companies, which in its opinion have the potentials to succeed over the long term based on a blend of factors, including financial stability, market strategy, service capabilities and support options.

Smoothstone is a well known g provider of cloud based communications for the enterprises. The company offers MPLS-based application networking, enterprise voice, unified threat management, advanced contact center solutions, unified messaging and collaboration tools, all in a unified suite of cloud-based applications.

Among the other service providers ranked in the survey, Smoothstone enjoys a unique position, being ranked as the only industry player focused on the enterprise market. The company was also recognized in the study as a key differentiator in the marketplace.

The recognition came also for the company’s efforts at bundling hosted VoIP and unified communication services with data offerings to ensure high levels of Quality of Service.

Infonetics also made special mention of Smoothstone’s management platform, the IT Command Console (ITC), which according to the research firm gives Smoothstone strong customer service capability. ITC is a next-generation Web-based portal that lets customers monitor and manage their IP communication infrastructures and services, from network configuration and call flow settings to service and security protocols. It gives customers full visibility into Smoothstone’s network tools, analysis and ticketing systems to keep them informed – in real-time – on the status of the entire infrastructure and communication services.

“Smoothstone is one of the few service providers that focus on serving the needs of the large-scale enterprise. We are proud to be among the leaders in the Infonetics survey and believe that our unique blend of application-aware network services coupled with a full portfolio of cloud-based enterprise voice applications will continue to differentiate us from the rest of the pack. Our market position will be strengthened as we become part of InterCall in an acquisition that is expected to close within Q2,” executive vice president of sales and marketing at Smoothstone James Whitemore commented in a statement.

In the press release, Smoothstone announced that its cloud-based voice services are targeted at the companies looking to lower the costs and speed the deployment of enterprise VoIP. According to Smoothstone, its cloud-based voice services are designed to deliver enterprise-class functionality with unlimited scale of users and calling capacity.

Smoothstone’s continued growth has been fueled “due to a strong focus on execution and its success in driving new customers onto its hosted VoIP platform, resulting in the second largest installed base of seats in 2010,” the report concluded.

Infonetics’ annual North America Business VoIP Services Leadership Scorecard released earlier this month highlighted that despite continued consolidation in the business VoIP service market, there are still over 100 service providers in North America The report revealed that for the third year in a row, Verizon Business is the market leader for IP connectivity Cbeyond, Comcast, and XO are also among top the IP connectivity providers.
