Webinar - How to Enhance Security in the Cloud

You can’t be involved in the IT industry and go a minute without hearing about the “cloud.” If your business hasn’t already begun to leverage the cloud to streamline operations now is the time. And for those businesses that are afraid to transition to a cloud environment due to security concerns, don’t be.

In actuality, the cloud is a completely secure place where companies around the globe can rest assured that their confidential data will remain protected at all times. But at a time in history when cyber attacks are extremely prevalent, I completely understand the high level of concern.

It is crucial that businesses select a cloud service provider that uses a data center with physical site security, application security, network security and data security protection put in place. Some important questions to be mindful of are: Does the data center have physical security patrols on the premises and surrounding area? Does the location have door and elevator entry card access? Are there closed circuit cameras in place to monitor the facility?, according to Jamie Brenzel, CEO, KineticD.

In addition, it is extremely important that data centers utilize an extremely reliable power supply to ensure that there is no potential for downtime which can cause a company to see sometimes catastrophic effects. Back-up generators are key here due to the fact that they will automatically switch on if the network stops functioning correctly.

Firewalls are another element to keep you safe and secure in the cloud as they can usually block multiple types of hacker attacks.

Dying to know more about to how begin your migration to the cloud? Luckily for you, Alert Logic and Internap are teaming up for a not-to-miss webinar that is taking place on March 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. ET that will delve deep into the current status of cloud security and how it can affect security management decisions.

Some of the topics slated to be discussed during the event include threats to be aware of for in-house vs. an outsourced data center environment, factors supporting cloud security fears, and best practices to see an increased ROI.

John Freimuth, vice president of managed hosting and cloud services at Internap (News - Alert) in conjunction with Randy Rosenbaum, partner executive at Alert Logic will also share with participants’ brand new findings from recently completed cloud research on security data in various types of end-user environments.
