Webinar - Webinar Explains 4G Wireless and Your Corporate Network

A recent webinar titled “Using 4G Wireless to Power Your Corporate Network” was presented Thursday, July 21. CLICK HERE to register now to access the archived presentation.

As webinar officials say, today enterprises want lightning speed, fast, reliable, and immediate connectivity: “As more and more cloud based applications are deployed in the enterprise, the demand for business continuity tools to keep the enterprise connected is a critical business challenge.”

T1 connections, state of the art not all that long ago, are really not fast enough, and most enterprises really don’t want to wait for wireline circuits to be installed. The webinar addressed ways to create a secure wireless WAN with 4G and ensure network continuity, and how 4G fixed access can reduce costs, enhance productivity, and offer more flexibility than wireline services.

Specific areas discussed include how 4G wireless connectivity can enable enterprises to launch new branches, or set up remote sites in a matter of days, what type of speeds 4G can offer an enterprise as compared to a T1 connection, the impact of redundant 4G and 3G connections on network reliability and the types of applications that make sense for a wireless WAN.

Presenters included Paul Kapustka, editor and founder of Sidecut Reports, launched in 2007. He describes his career as “trying to make literal sense out of complex computer and networking-related subject matter, a quest that began in earnest in 1991 when he joined Unix Today! as a networking beat reporter.”

Kapustka made a good point speaking about the fact that when out shopping for 4G products, companies need to ask themselves – and the vendors – the hard questions: Will this give me true broadband speeds? Not just basic connectivity, but the speeds I need? How flexible is it? Can I be anywhere inside a service area or do I need to be standing next to a tower? Is there an SLA I can get? What are the terms of data usage? Are there caps? Are there any hidden costs? Is this model replicable across the country? I don’t want to be negotiating new contracts in every different service area, you know.

Also presenting was Dave Fischbach, General Manager-Solutions Engineering for Sprint (News - Alert). His expertise includes management of new product launches, device and product certification, documentation, engineer training, and high visibility issue resolution.

Want to learn more about 4G wireless technologies? Then be sure to attend the 4GWE Conference, collocated with TMC’s (News - Alert) ITEXPO West 2011, taking place Sept. 13-15, 2011, in Austin, Texas.
