Webinar - Free TMC Webinar To Tackle Challenges of OTT Video Services

A recent free seminar titled “The Challenges of Over-The-Top (OTT) Video Services” was presented by TMC (News - Alert). CLICK HERE TO Register Now and you can still hear the presentation.

The Webinar looked at the fact that video maintains an impressive presence in traditional linear broadcast and satellite networks, and is now the dominant content delivered over the Internet.

As Webinar officials say, “video now travels directly to the consumer through the Internet connections to computers and Internet connected TVs, as well as video-enabled mobile devices.”

Specific points covered included the network infrastructure needed to deploy Internet video to the home, computer, or mobile device, the unique opportunities and challenges facing Internet video providers, advanced monitoring tools essential to assure quality to the consumer and gain the business intelligence needed to make informed decisions about your Internet video network.

The infrastructure needed to deploy OTT services is “drastically different than traditional delivery methods,” as the Webinar demonstrated. And as such, new monitoring technologies that monitor the delivery of video and the performance of end-point devices “are essential for business intelligence and quality assurance.”

Presenting was Gino Dion, vice president and general manager of Control Plane DPI at IneoQuest (News - Alert) Technologies, with over a decade of in-depth expertise in the video, cable, IPTV, broadband networking and security fields. He has participated in, designed and implemented major network and video projects for service providers worldwide.

Dion holds over a dozen patents in the IP video space, including technology such as fast channel-changes, ad-insertion, and secure multicast.

Moderating the presentation was Stefanie Mosca, a Web editor for TMCnet. Previously she worked as a freelance copy editor for Digital Surgeons. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Quinnipiac University and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of New Haven.
