computing. In addition to Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, the Tablet PC
1100 features the latest Intel Pentium III Mobile technology; an
embedded 802.11b wireless solution, and built-in WAN, LAN connectivity
for improved signal reception.
"Our engineering experience with the ViewPad 1000, combined with
customer feedback on its use in a variety of business applications, has
given ViewSonic the input necessary to further extend the functionality
of the tablet PC," said Tom Offutt, general manager, Mobile and
Wireless Products, ViewSonic. "The Tablet PC 1100 reflects our
commitment to providing the utmost in computing performance by
incorporating what mobile users want most, including improved screen
resolution, consistent signal clarity, smaller footprint and ease of

In addition to these elements, the Tablet PC 1100 also features
extended user controls and an ergonomic design that facilitates
handwriting, as well as the users' grip of the unit. Although the tablet
is designed for use in portrait mode, applications also can be run using
the landscape orientation.
"ViewSonic's expertise in displays and mobile computing, in
tandem with the advanced technologies in our Window XP Tablet PC Edition
operating system, will result in a more advanced mobile PC that will
better meet the needs of mobile business users," said Alexandra
Loeb, vice president of the Tablet PC division at Microsoft.
ViewSonic expects to ship the Tablet PC 1100 in the Fall of 2002.
