Edgecore Networks Intros EPS200 Series
Open networking solutions provider Edgecore Networks has introduced a new, high-performance, multi-Gigabit enterprise solution – the EPS200 Series - to provide enterprises with an easy way to upgrade their existing network and cabling so they can add Wi-Fi infrastructure and gain higher transmission bandwidths.
The new offering is based on the Broadcom Trident3-X3 family chipset and a COMe CPU board with an Intel (News - Alert) Denverton CPU. In addition to better performance per Watt, it also has a power-saving thermal design and is configurable for high-speed I/O – making it an ideal option for enterprise and campus access networking.
It is also fully compatible with the open source network operating system, SONiC offering unified management and control, simplifying deployment through automation, provisioning, and monitoring of the entire networking infrastructure.
Included in the series is the EPS203 - a multi-Gigabit PoE enterprise switch with:
- 36 x 10/100/1000/2.5GBASE-T RJ-45 ports
- 12 x 2.5G/5G/10GBASE-T RJ-45 ports
- 4 x 10G/25G SFP28 uplink ports
- 2 x 100G stacking ports
The RJ-45 Ethernet ports also support up to 90W of Power-over-Ethernet to attached devices. That means VoIP phones, wireless access points, surveillance cameras work by utilizing existing Cat. 6 cabling infrastructure.
This latest offering also includes 2.5 times faster data transmission bandwidth and can meet new application demands for 4K video streaming, VR, and online gaming which all require Wi-Fi 6E and the upcoming Wi-Fi 7.
For those enterprises needing to deploy open network solutions outside of their data centers such as at distribution facilities, branch offices, and campus networks, the EPS201 model features:
- 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports
- 4 x 10G/25G uplink ports
- 2 x 100G stacking ports
The solution works well as a management switch in the data center networking architecture, as it can connect server nodes, storage nodes, and network switches in a rack.
