IBASIS Announces Authorized Carrier of Claro Ecuador Status

Communications solutions developer IBASIS has announced the signing of a new agreement with Claro Ecuador, officially becoming an authorized carrier for the monetization of all A2P SMS messaging traffic.

IBASIS will help monitor international messaging traffic with the support of the iBASIS’ SMS Firewall, allowing the company to better manage virtual entry points and uncover fraud/phishing schemes.

With web traffic at an all time high, companies are also investing more on A2P SMS , further emphasizing the need to secure these channels from malicious scammers. According to statistics provided by IBASIS, spending toward A2P services has increased to 51.6%, a huge rise in growth compared to the 16.1% rate found just two years prior.

Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS traffic has risen significantly in just the last few years. Between 2019 and 2020, A2P SMS traffic jumped by 68.4%, a massive leap from the 18.2% growth reported between 2018 and 2019. The collective shift to the digital world as a result of the pandemic has more businesses than ever using the channel, putting added pressure on network service providers to heighten management efforts.

As the global economy continues to take advantage of digital communications resources like SMS , the need for advanced network security measures will likely be a major point of concern for the foreseeable future.
